Child Labor

One of the worst evils of any society is the devil called child labor. It refers to any form of employment of children which leads to their moral, physical or mental degradation. The kind of work which exploits the child is the most disagreeable. This is observed in cases where the innocent kid is not even paid and looked after for the services he or she offers. The work involved can be anything ranging from helping in their parents' work to doing odd jobs, starting their own small business, doing farm work and taking care of animals, mining, quarrying, doing factory work and so on. They are not allowed to pursue proper education and are forced to forgo their desires and wishes. The most touching and unfortunate stories are of those children who suffer great pain and injuries, and even death sometimes where the work is highly risky, like in a factory or a mine!! Statistics say that more than 70% of child laborers are from parts of Asia and Africa. It is the duty of the educated sector of the prevailing social systems to ensure the elimination of this "monster."
